Bruce Sterling conceived and announced the project Il Versificatore at the previous edition of Share Festival. Il Versificatore is a working progress project inspired by one of the short stories in Primo Levi's Storie naturali (1966). This multidisciplinary project aims to unite art, technology and literature in a fascinating and provocative dialogue. The design and construction of the device, which will incorporate ChatGPT artificial intelligence to transform prose into poetry.
But the Versificatore is more than just a machine. It is an experiment, a reflection on the nature of creativity and the role of technology in our society. It is a tribute to Primo Levi, one of Italy's greatest writers, and his reflections on technology and humanity.
After the exhibition of the project at the 17th Share Festival - “Elaborator” - and at the Book Fair by the collaboration with MUFANT - Museolab of the Fantastic and Science Fiction in Turin - the aim of Bruce Sterling is to make various “Versificatori” in collaboration with artists, engineers, creatives, businesses and cultural entities in the area of Turin.
