ABOUT
The Share project was born from an original idea of Chiara Garibaldi and its founding members, starting from a reflection on the new cultural flux generated when the use of digital technology crosses our lives. It carries out its activities through The Sharing Association (founded in 2003) which has numerous members active in the dissemination and promotion of digital arts, new media art, interactive design, internet-based projects, graphic design, interactive digital installations, arts and robotics, and web-cinema.
Under the artistic direction of Bruce Sterling, it is established as a platform strongly rooted in the territory of Turin and Piedmont.
In 2005, the association produced Share Festival, an annual one-week event dedicated to digital culture that questions what impact globalisation and innovative technologies have had on artistic production and on the contemporary collective imagination, providing ideas for comparisons and debates.
Through the realisation of workshops realised in collaboration with international research and training centres, the project keeps the connection between one edition and the following one alive and constant in the various years. Since 2015, new projects have been developed in parallel with Share Festival, such as Share Prize, Action Sharing, S.M.I.R., Share Crossing, Youth Museum, Share Campus, Artmaker and Cristallo di Luce by Diego Scroppo.
This is how a new and comprehensive form of SHARE PROJECT was born. For twenty years it has been developing dissemination bodies, productions and research initiatives focused on creative and contemporary art, creating concrete opportunities such as exhibitions, events, workshops, seminars, and supporting artistic productions. Share project strongly believes in the value of research and innovation in the field of art as a critical expression of a digital and global society. The attempt to bring together the visual arts, interaction design, the web, environmental sustainability and robotics through a transdisciplinary approach has, in fact, the aim of bringing greater collective awareness to technological and cultural development.
