The skin of a tree
Jina Shin
The skin is the first organ to receive external stimuli. As the boundary between us and the world, it serves as the most direct connection between our senses and the environment. The Skin of a Tree is a work that invites viewers to touch it, breaking down the barrier between the observer and what is observed. The feel of a tissue imagined by the artist as "the skin of a tree" encourages us to step outside ourselves and explore the deeper meanings of our surroundings, revealing hidden aspects of our inner selves. As this emotional connection deepens, tactile memory is stirred by the intensity of sensations. The work becomes a catalyst for rich personal experiences, encapsulated within its textures. The Skin of a Tree offers an experience that intertwines our inner worlds with the collective events as one living organism.
