Based on an idea by the artist Diego Scroppo, the sculpture, made of glass and steel, grows to a height of seven metres, standing on a solid base with irregular geometric shapes covered in photovoltaic panels, which allows it to power itself and emanate a magical glow, but also to supply energy to power electronic devices. A contemporary monument that triggers performative actions aimed at recounting possible models of sustainable development, such as Suono nella Luce (Sound in the Light), the interactive technological art show - conceived by Diego Scroppo and realised by the Sintetica collective - that can be enjoyed as an absolute preview during the 17th edition of the festival. Cristallo di Luce presents itself as a starting point to stimulate reflection and education about the challenges of sustainable production and the difficulty in balancing the aspiration for sustainability with the reality of production.
The Cristallo di Luce project, conceived by Diego Scroppo, is produced by the association The Sharing. It won the ART~WAVES call for bids promoted by the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, which supports artistic and cultural projects aimed at enhancing, producing, and enjoying cultural goods and activities in the regions of Piedmont, Liguria, and Valle d'Aosta. Cristallo di Luce is supported by the Piedmont Region, the Turin Chamber of Commerce, and the CRT Foundation. The current exhibition of the work, marking the culmination of the ALL-Natural tour, is made possible through a partnership with Environment Park - Parco Scientifico Tecnologico Per L'Ambiente di Torino. It is also included in Luminarie, section of the XXVII edition of Luci d?Artista program.
