Breath
Alexandra Marinova
“
A society that is increasingly sick yet increasingly powerful has reshaped the world into the environment and backdrop of its own sickness: it has created a sick planet
”
Guy Debord
The artist has chosen to illustrate the fragility of the balance between nature and humanity. Breath is an installation intrinsically connected to life, where every action of an organism has an impact. Nature relaxes when humans slow down the pace of their daily lives. While “still life” is an esteemed genre in the artistic canon, meant for contemplation, Breath—with its bundle of withered branches supported by medical drips—invites us not to turn the world we inhabit into a still life: a world that cannot breathe.
